tac chrutvā prīta-manasa indraprastha-nivāsinaḥ

menire māgadhaṁ śāntaṁ rājā cāpta-manorathaḥ

TRANSLATION

The residents of Indraprastha were very pleased to hear that sound, for they understood that now the King of Magadha had been put to rest. King Yudhiṣṭhira felt that his desires were now fulfilled.

 

|| 10.73.34 ||

abhivandyātha rājānaṁ bhīmārjuna-janārdanāḥ

sarvam āśrāvayāṁ cakrur ātmanā yad anuṣṭhitam

TRANSLATION

Bhīma, Arjuna and Janārdana offered their respects to the King and informed him fully about what they had done.

 

|| 10.73.35 ||

niśamya dharma-rājas tat keśavenānukampitam

ānandāśru-kalāṁ muñcan premṇā novāca kiñcana

TRANSLATION

Upon hearing their account of the great favor Lord Keśava had mercifully shown him, King Dharmarāja shed tears of ecstasy. He felt such love that he could not say anything.

COMMENTARY

Stunned in bliss, Yudhiṣṭhira could not speak.

 

Thus ends the commentary on the Seventy-third Chapter of the Tenth Canto of the Bhāgavatam for the pleasure of the devotees, in accordance with the previous ācāryas.

 

Chapter Seventy-four

The Deliverance of Śiśupāla at the Rājasūya Sacrifice

 

|| 10.74.1 ||

śrī-śuka uvāca

evaṁ yudhiṣṭhiro rājā jarāsandha-vadhaṁ vibhoḥ

kṛṣṇasya cānubhāvaṁ taṁ śrutvā prītas tam abravīt

TRANSLATION

Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Having thus heard of the killing of Jarāsandha, and also of almighty Kṛṣṇa’s wonderful power, King Yudhiṣṭhira addressed the Lord as follows with great pleasure.

COMMENTARY

In this chapter the brāhmaṇas worship Kṛṣṇa with the agra-pūjā during the Rājasūya sacrifice, Kṛṣṇa beheads Śiśupāla, and Duryo-dhana’s pride is injured. Hearing about the killing of Jarāsandha and the power of Kṛṣṇa, King Yudhiṣṭhira was pleased and spoke.

śrī-yudhiṣṭhira uvāca

ye syus trai-lokya-guravaḥ sarve lokā maheśvarāḥ

vahanti durlabhaṁ labdvā śirasaivānuśāsanam
