- You have crossed the illusory energy of Lord Viṣṇu, and because of this you have given up the demoniac mentality and have attained the position of an exalted devotee.
- O respectable one! Vṛtrāsura, who was completely able to subdue his enemy, took his iron club, whirled it around, and then threw it at Indra with his left hand.

- As the Kṛttikās, through Agni, had a child named Skanda, Kṛtadyuti, through Citraketu, became pregnant after eating remnants of food from the sacrifice.

- mumoha vibhraṣṭa-śiroruhāmbarā
- stana-dvayaṁ kuṅkuma-paṅka-maṇḍitaṁ
- tvaṁ tāta nārhasi ca māṁ kṛpaṇām anāthāṁ
- uttiṣṭha tāta ta ime śiśavo vayasyās
- naṣṭa-saṁjñam anāyakam
- yathā prayānti saṁyānti
- janma-mṛtyor yathā paścāt
- dehy artha iva śāśvataḥ
- kau yuvāṁ jñāna-sampannau
- Aṅgirā said: O King! I am the giver of the son to you who desired a son, and this is Nārada, a great sage, son of Lord Brahmā.
- na dṛśyante manobhavāḥ
- yāṁ dhārayan sapta-rātrād
- jīvātman paśya bhadraṁ te
- paryaṭanti nareṣv evaṁ
- eṣa nityo 'vyayaḥ sūkṣma
- na doṣaṁ na kriyā-phalam
- bāla-hatyā-hata-prabhāḥ
- tmānandānubhūtyaiva
- so 'vyān naḥ sad-asat-paraḥ
- bhaktāyaitāṁ prapannāya
- ab-bhakṣaḥ susamāhitaḥ
- premāśru-leśair upamehayan muhuḥ
- tava vibhavaḥ khalu bhagavan
- saptabhir daśa-guṇottarair aṇḍa-kośaḥ
evaṁ sandahyamānānāṁ
sapatnyāḥ putra-sampadā
rājño 'sammata-vṛttīnāṁ
vidveṣo balavān abhūt
Being neglected by their husband and envious of Kṛtadyuti's wealth in possessing a son, Kṛtadyuti's co-wives developed strong hatred.
The co-wives had the quality of being disrespected by the King (asammata-vṛttīnāṁ).

vidveṣa-naṣṭa-matayaḥ
striyo dāruṇa-cetasaḥ
garaṁ daduḥ kumārāya
durmarṣā nṛpatiṁ prati
Losing discretion because of hatred and being intolerant of the King, those cruel women gave poison to the young child
Durmarṣāḥ means intolerant.

kṛtadyutir ajānantī
sapatnīnām aghaṁ mahat
supta eveti sañcintya
nirīkṣya vyacarad gṛhe
Unaware of the sinful act of her co-wives, Queen Kṛtadyuti walked about in the house, looking at her son, thinking that he was sleeping.

śayānaṁ suciraṁ bālam
upadhārya manīṣiṇī
putram ānaya me bhadre
iti dhātrīm acodayat
Thinking that her child had been sleeping for a long time, the intelligent Queen ordered the nurse, "My dear friend, please bring my son here."

sā śayānam upavrajya
dṛṣṭvā cottāra-locanam
prāṇendriyātmabhis tyaktaṁ
hatāsmīty apatad bhuvi
When the maidservant approached the child, who was lying down, she saw that the child had his eyes turned upward and was without life, senses or mental functions. Seeing this, she immediately cried, "Now I am doomed," and fell to the ground.

tasyās tadākarṇya bhṛśāturaṁ svaraṁ
ghnantyāḥ karābhyām ura uccakair api
praviśya rājñī tvarayātmajāntikaṁ
dadarśa bālaṁ sahasā mṛtaṁ sutam
In great agitation, the maidservant struck her breast with both hands and cried loudly in regretful words. Hearing her loud voice, the Queen immediately came to her son and saw that the young boy had suddenly died.
She saw that her son who was very young was dead.
