My family

1. I’d like to tell you about my family. My family is very small. There are 2 of us: my mother and me. My family is friendly and loving. My mother’s name is Olga Dmitrievna. She is clever and kind. She is a teacher by profession. She is always busy, because my mum works a lot. She lives in Murmansk region and I miss her very much. I love my mum and I love my family.

2. My home

I live in a flat. It is not very big. It is on the ground floor. Our flat has two rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a hall.

Our living room is big. It is light because it has a large window. It’s my mum’s room. We often gather together in the living room and talk about everything.

I have my own room. It is small. There is no much furniture in it but it is very cosy. Our kitchen is big and comfortable. I like my flat.

3. Meals

 Food is an important part of our daily life. One famous English saying goes “We are what we eat”, and it’s true. We eat three or four meals a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper.  I think that we should eat healthy food only.  We should eat less sweet and fat food, eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. There are a lot of vitamins in them. As for me, I  try to avoid fast food, eat fruit and vegetables.

4. My hobby

Hobby is what people like to do in their free time. We choose a hobby to our tastes. Hobby makes our life interesting. Sometimes it helps us to choose our future profession. I have a hobby too. My hobby is playing the piano. When I have free time, I always play my favourite music.
Also I like to paint in my free time.

5. Travelling

Travelling is very popular nowadays. A lot of people travel to different countries  I think it is very interesting to discover new things, new places. You meet new people, try different meals; see world famous places. There are many ways of traveling – by train, by plane, by ship, on foot. People who travel a lot, are very interesting, they always have a good story to tell. Any kind of travelling helps you to understand many interesting . As English people say – A picture is worth a thousand words. And I agree with them.

6. Shopping

It is difficult to imagine our life without shopping. It’s one of quite important household tasks. Shopping is the way to get necessary food and clothes. A lot of people like to go shopping and it’s a real pleasure for them. As for me, I like going shopping too. Shopping makes me happy. I like to do my shopping at big department stores and supermarkets. I can buy everything I need in one place.

Nowadays it’s becoming more and more popular to shop online. I think it’s the most comfortable way. It’s very easy and saves a lot of time and energy. If you’re  a fan of shopping like me, do it online.

7. Cinema

Cinema plays an important role in our life. It is an available popular form of art. Lots of people think that going to the cinema is one of the best ways of spending their free time. There are such genres of feature films as the western, the thriller, the musical, the drama and the comedy. The performance lasts for two or three hours and most cinemas have at least 4 performances a day.

As for me, I'm fond of going to the cinema. It's a pity, I don't always have time for it. It's an open secret that we live in a very difficult time now. But people  need something amusing and pleasant, something to laugh at. That's why I prefer comedies.

8. My free time

Every person needs some free time, be it a kid or an adult. Most people usually rest at weekend. This is the best time for relaxing and doing what you like.                                          When I have spare time I love reading books, especially romantic novels and detective stories. When I want something relaxing, I listen to music. At weekends I go out with my friends. Sometimes we go to the cinema, sometimes to the pizza place. We chat about everything. Sometimes I spend my free time with my family members and relatives. We like to have family gatherings at my sister’s place.

9. The weather

Weather is something we can talk about every day. The weather depends on the season and the region.  We have four seasons in Russia: winter, spring, summer and autumn. In winter it is cold and frosty. In spring it is cool or warm, rainy and windy. In summer the weather is warm, hot and sunny. Autumn brings heavy rains and winds to our region. I can say I don’t like autumn. My favourite season is summer because it’s hot and I can swim in a river. When the weather is fine we can go for a walk in the park.

In the place where I live the weather is very changeable. It can bring sunshine and heat one day, rain and cold the next day.

. I’ve heard that English people also like discussing the topic of weather.
