Protokoll from Barentsmeeting for Orienteering/ Skiorienteering 08.10.2016

Antendants: Marko Vapa, Mikko Vapa, Kjell Sandström, Olga Marudo, Eli Blomseth Helgesen.

Location: Barents conference, Thon Hotel, Kirkenes

We discussed orienteering and ski-orienteering together.

The group were given several topics to answer:

1. The competition forms for orienteering is Long distance and middle distance or sprint. In addition can be pre-orienteering (Paralympics).

2. Number of athlets in orienteering:

a. Classes 15-16 men –woman  2 + 2

b. Classes 17-18 men – woman 2 + 2

c. Classes 19-20 men – woman 2 + 2

d. Classes 21- men – woman 4 +4

Total team members               20

Leaders                                       2

Number of athlets in ski-orienteering

· Classes 17-18 men – woman 2 + 2

· Classes 19-20 men – woman 2 + 2

· Classes 21-    men – woman 2 + 2

Total team members               12

Leaders                                       2

The total number of athlets is the main topic. The numbers within each class can differ, depending on the athlets the teams can mobilize. Still the maximum number counting in the team competition is like above (the 2 or 4 best from each country counts).

3. We recommend that there is given dispensation from the 25-year limit for the senior class.

Additional rules: You may attend higher classes than your own, but just just 1 class higher.

4. How to select team-members:

In Sweden and Finland : By ranking system. The national committee decides.

In Russia: By ranking races. The national committee decides.

In Norway: Each region nominate, the committee decides.

5. Requirements: Updated maps, GPS-tracking possible

6. Para-sport: Presition orienteering . Demonstration in Bodø?

7. And 10. Should referees (course-setters for orienteering) and young leaders attend the Barents Games? – A good idea, but then the team-size must expand in members and there has to be education for them during the games, but not at the same time as the competitions.

8. Finland and Norway has Emit electronic system, Sweden has the SportIdent system. The Russians has the SFR-system – but the Russians don’t own it themselves.

9. Prizes: Medals for the 3 best in each class (individual) and prizes for the 3 best teams.

We also shared sportarrangements in 2017.

Good advices about electronic time from Finland www. Livelox is for free!
