What raw materials do you use?

We use bycatches and cuttings from our commercial seafood partners. Presses separate the raw product into presscake and pressliquor. Thesolid presscake eventually becomes fish meal. The pressliquor, or the liquid that we press out of the fish, becomes fish oil.

How do you make fish oil?

First we filter any small bits of solid material out of the pressliquor. Then, we separate the liquid into water and oil parts. The water-based part, called stickwater, undergoes evaporation. (We use it later in our fish meal production.) The oil- based part is our crude fish oil. It undergoes carbon treatment to ready it for consumption.

Now do you make fish meal?

We use the presscake, or the solid portion of our raw material. We add stickwater, and press the material a second time Pressing a second time extracts more oil. The next step is grinding the material into small pieces. Finally, we add antioxidants to the product.
