VI Introverts in the society

Поиск

Extravert behavior seems to be undeservedly standard in most of the societies. The constant group work became a necessity in offices, schools, universities etc

Moreover, it has long been believed that the natural leaders of our society were the extroverted types. As for the introverts, they were certainly not perceived as leaders and were thought to be suited only for back office work. Unfortunately, sometimes people make negative assumptions about quiet workers.  Our society thrives on competitiveness, aggression, immediate results and being a team player. All of which do not come naturally for introverts.

However, the real skills of introverts are usually underestimated. Actually, introverts tend to be more quick-witted, much less likely to take outside risks (4), more imaginative, creative and self-sufficient, which are very important features for the leader. At the same time extraverts usually tend to be more easy-minded, relaxed, talkative and light.

The solution should be found. Society is wrong to always be well-disposed only towards extraverts. People shouldn’t always adapt only to extraverts. For example, in the enterprise it is important to take into account introvert workers who can absolutely be team players but usually prefer to work by their own selves. So, the amount of group meetings should be reduced if possible, or the necessity to always participate in group actions. The same goes with schools and all other institutions.

To sum up, it is important to highlight that there are no good or bad personalities or no strong differences between introverts’ or extraverts’ benefits. We are different, but at the same time, equal.
