1) Every year on the 9^th of May, all the people in our country celebrate Victory Day. The 9th of May was the final day of the Great Patriotic War. It was in 1945. That war began on the 22^nd of June 1941. People from Belarus, Russia, the Ukraine and other countries fought against fascists. Great Britain, the USA, France and some other countries took part in that war, too. Over 26.600.000 Soviet people were killed during that Great Patriotic war.

Every year in spring before celebration, we recollect the war heroes. We organize meetings, congratulate war veterans and give them red carnations. We have talks about Victory Day and concerts at schools, theatres and on central city squares.

During the celebration, we have parades, salutes and fireworks. There are many monuments and Victory memorials in our country. We put flowers to the monuments and to Eternal flame to honour (почтить) the memory of the war heroes.

We feel proud of our people’s Victory. We should never forget about our veterans and their exploit will go down to posterity!

Many Russians celebrate Victory Day on May 9. On this day, TV networks broadcast World War II-inspired films, younger generations honor veterans, and the festivities culminate in a military parade at Moscow’s Red Square.
