Explain Gatsby's behaviour after the tragic accident

The way I see it, Gatsby’s character fully revealed during this chapter. He behaved himself as loving and passionate person. Choosing to be blamed for the car accident instead of Daisy was very brave. But at the same time he is completely blind to her feelings and can’t even understand what her life was without him. He thinks that he lives in the world where everything is as he wanted it to be, because of his power and money. He believes that past can be brought back. And he is horribly wrong.
