B. Scope of surgery
Operation under General anesthesia – midline or paramedial incision, if purulent fluid comes out, send for culture, cytology or serology, use Novocain blockage of mesenterium to prevent negative reflex, examine the organs to find source of inflammation, do peritoneal wash of saline to prevent intraperitoneal abscess, put a drainage to exterior by corrugated rubber drain, tension suture.
G. Appoint a postoperative treatment
· Child will get pain medicine through the IV, then later by mouth.
· If the appendix ruptured before the surgery, child may need IV antibiotics for a week or more.
