Stem cells are the source of all cells in organism. Adult organism save only small amount of these cells in blood and bone marrow and even smaller in organs and tissues. Stem cells function as reparative system of organism, change old and broken cells with new. As we age amount of our stem cells continuing to decrease and our reparation system weaken, that increase chance of new traumas.

2) I don't think this kind of experiments makes any disrespect of human life, because scientists don’t chase after experiments of life-creating, they are doing it for the sake of humankind, for improvement of our life in future
