Advertising– is creating messages to tell people about a product or service and to convince them to buy it. The message that is created about a product for sale is advertisement or “ad” for short. One of the most wide-spread type of ads is commercial – an advertisement placed on the radio or TV.

Advertisers:

- Create messages to inform and convince consumers.

- Use media to spread messages

- Spend huge amounts of money for people to see ads.

The thing you should look for in the ads is exaggeration – information that states that something is much better or worse than it really is. Negative information is excluded.

The advertisers need to target an audience – to aim or direct something towards a certain group of people. They should do their best in order to appeal to and reach the audience.

Companies ask themselves some of the following questions:

- How old is the audience?

- Are they mostly male of female?

- What interests or hobbies do they have?

- What do these people need?

- What media do they use most often?

- Where do people live?

- What are people’s values and cultures?

How to categorize adjectives and order them correctly when several are used to describe a noun? – It is well-known that adjectives are words that describe a noun or pronoun.

What an intensifier is and how to use intensifiers?

Intensifiers are words that are used to make adjectives stronger. Among them there are very, extremely, incredibly, exceptionally, particularly, unusually, amazingly.

Regular form: intensifier + adjective

Very + excited = very excited

Really + smart = really smart

Enough: adjective + enough = strong enough, old enough

Really (very) can describe almost any adjective: really angry, very angry

However, we can’t add very to the strong adjectives (enormous, tiny, amazing and awful), as they already have the intensifier very in their meaning.

Intensifiers absolutely, extremely, particularly, really can be used with the strong adjectives: extremely furious
